Ask The Expert
If sweeps rules state no
automatic entry, does that also exclude form fillers such as Gator?
Can judges tell if a form filler was used?
Most sweeps
rules are "templated" and almost always state no automatic
entry; however, this applies to sweepstakes sites that "auto-submit"
forms. This would not apply to Gator or other form fillers, and,
no, a judge can not tell if a form filler was used.
What is
the outlook for sweepstakes and online promotions in 2003? More
of the same or something new?
Good question!
Really, only time will tell, but based on the current trends, I
believe you will see a huge increase in "Watch and Win"
types of promotions and other "offline to online" types
of sweepstakes incentives.
Sporting events, awards shows, movies, music and
reality tv shows seem to be the current choice among marketers for
Watch and Wins. Here are a few:
The Hallmark Channel and eBay have combined a Watch and Win, offline
to online and an instant win reward for bidding into a unique promotion.
I predict we will see more promotions similar to this: http://pressroom.hallmark.com/Hallmark_Channel_holiday_promos.html
Hopefully, marketers will not forget those of us who are ALREADY
online and continue to provide us with the simple sweepstakes most
sweepers prefer.
